Founded by Artist, Curator, and Event Producer Gwendolyn Black, the festival has been at the forefront of presenting the work of emerging, established, and master visual artists who have been dedicated to celebrating jazz music in their work and to further bring to the public’s attention the importance of the many visual artists, past and present, who are dedicated to preserving the history of jazz music highlighted by live jazz music past and present.
Other special events include Visual Arts and Jazz Day™ held every second Friday in June to enable school-aged children and the community at large to engage in the festival and learn more about the similarities of visual arts and jazz music. This year marks the 18th Anniversary of the festival and Ms. Black’s 33rd year of advocating and celebrating the visual side of jazz.
