Seitu’s World: Jazz By The Water Festival 2021 At Governors Island (Photographs)

In celebration of the 18th Anniversary for Arts and Jazzfest NYC™, Artist and Producer Gwendolyn Black with Co-Host Musical Artist Paul Brown once again presented her highly anticipated arts and jazz festival.

The Arts and Jazzfest NYC™ at Colonel Row on the beautiful Governor’s Island on Saturday, September 11th, 2021.

The celebration continued with the launch of the 2nd Annual Jazz By The Water™ Celebrating Jazz Yesterday and Today™, a free all day concert series from 12 noon to 5 pm.

The event featured the legendary Percussionist and Blue Note Recording Artist Joe Chambers, who made his New York City return since 2008, with his Jazz-Maracatu Group featuring Rick Germanson–Piano; Mark Lewandowski–Bass; Bobby Sanabria–Drums & Percussions along with performances by other musical talent including the Ray Blue Quintet (Ray Blue–Sax; Eddie Allen–Trumpet; Greg Murphy–Piano; Paul Beaudry–Bass; Alvester Garnett–Drums) Rob Fulton Quintet (Rob Fulton –Vocals; Nat Adderly Jr.–Piano; Patience Higgins –Tenor Sax; Chris Berger – Bass; Dwayne “Cook” Broadnax – Drums; Eugenie Jones & Friends (Eugenie Jones–Vocals; Jason Yeager–Piano; Kenny Davis–Bass; Bobby Sanabria–Drums; Kelvyn Bell–Guitar; Marvin Carter–Sax); Kim Clarke Quintet (Kim Clarke–Bass; Nikita White–Vocals; Bertha Hope–Piano; Chrissy Cromwell–Sax; Wenting Wu–Drums with a Special 911 Dedication by Percussionist & Vocalist Paul Brown, Percussionist Joaquin Pozo along with vocalists Rochelle Thompson.

Jazz By The Water™ Celebrating Jazz Yesterday and Today™ concert series was launched virtually in 2020 from NYC’s Triad Theater and was created to enable local and international jazz musicians to have a venue here in New York City and the United States to present America’s Classical Music—Jazz.

Funding for the concert series was provided by the City Artist Corps Grant/NYFA, Jazz Foundation of America, K&R Realty Management, the Onaje Allan Gumbs & Saundra Gumbs JazzArt Foundation, WGE (World’s Greatest Enterprises), with community support by Fiscal Sponsor Sugar Hill Communications Institute, Inc., United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and Marketing Partner JazzMobile Summerfest 2021.

Since 1999, Arts and Jazzfest NYC (formerly known as Visual Expressions on Jazz™) has been developing into the premier arts and music festival dedicated to presenting both the visual arts and jazz music.

Founded by Artist, Curator, and Event Producer Gwendolyn Black, the festival has been at the forefront of presenting the work of emerging, established, and master visual artists who have been dedicated to celebrating jazz music in their work and to further bring to the public’s attention the importance of the many visual artists, past and present, who are dedicated to preserving the history of jazz music highlighted by live jazz music past and present.

Other special events include Visual Arts and Jazz Day™ held every second Friday in June to enable school-aged children and the community at large to engage in the festival and learn more about the similarities of visual arts and jazz music. This year marks the 18th Anniversary of the festival and Ms. Black’s 33rd year of advocating and celebrating the visual side of jazz.

Founded in 2017 by Chairman Paul Brown the company is a member-based online platform developed to act as a vehicle to provide opportunities for autonomous businesses to be a part of a network that will enable them to grow through various services and access to international audiences through their TV network the World’s Greatest Entertainment Channel.
