New York Live Arts Hosts 2024 Live Ideas Gala, Raises $900,000

On Monday night, June 3rd, 2024, New York Live Arts welcomed approximately 300 guests to the 2024 Live Ideas Gala.

The event honored critically acclaimed, multidisciplinary artist Derrick Adams; Grammy®, Emmy®, and Tony® Award-winning actress, singer, and producer, Cynthia Erivo; and academic leader and President of the New York Public Library (NYPL), Dr. Anthony W. Marx. Co-chaired by Sarah Arison, Darnell L. Moore, and Yashua Simmons, the gala successfully raised nearly $900,000 in support of New York Live Arts.

Board member Aimee Meredith Cox, an anthropologist, writer, and movement artist, hosted the evening. The gala featured special performances by the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, 2024 USA Fellow Holland Andrews, Live Feed commissioning and residency artist Jasmine Hearn, and 2023-2024 Fresh Tracks Artist and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company alum Vinson Fraley Jr., with music provided by world-renowned DJ April Hunt.

Attendees included New York Live Arts Artistic Director Bill T. Jones and a diverse array of celebrities, and artists. With thought leaders such as Derrick Adams, Bjorn Amelan, Aimee Meredith Cox, Adrian Danchig-Waring, Claire Danes & Hugh Dancy, Linda Genereux, Miguel Gutierrez, Vincent Katz, Simone Leigh, Robert Longo, Dr. Anthony W. Marx, Michele Mecure, Jose Parla, Shamel Pitts, Randy Polumbo, Matthew Putman, Slobodan Randjelović & Jon Stryker, Narciso Rodriguez, Thomas Rom, Isha Sesay, Cindy Sherman, Catharine R. Stimpson, Mickalene Thomas, and Lena Waithe.

Additionally, the gala drew philanthropists and arts and business leaders such as Kim Cullen, David A. Dechman, Zoe Eskin, Adam Flatto, Eleanor Friedman, Timur Galen, Helen Haje, Ruth & Stephen Hendel, Jessica Iclisoy, Michi & Charles Jigarjian, Charla Jones, Colleen Keegan, Richard Levy & Lorraine Gallard, Alan D. & Barbara Marks, Alton Murray, Andrea Rosen, and Amaechi Uzoigwe.

The event occurred at Chelsea Factory, 547 West 26th Street, New York, NY, on Monday, May 20th, 2024.
