6-Step Simple Skin Care Routine

June 13, 2023

If you have started your journey to improving your skin, one of the things that is very important to remember is that consistency is key.

With that being said, doing a skincare routine every other week is not going to make that much of a difference. If you are new to looking after your skin and want a simple skincare routine that you can easily do every single day, continue reading to find out exactly what is needed.

Start With Cleansing

The very first step of your skincare routine sets the foundation for the rest of the routine and is the most important step to perform. The reason that starting with a cleanser is so important is that it cleans your face by removing the impurities, oil, and dirt that could get in the way of the toner and moisturizer.

To effectively use the cleanser, what you’re going to want to do is use circular motions to gently massage the cleanser onto your face. Once it has been massaged onto your face, you’re going to want to rinse it off using lukewarm water, and then, instead of using a towel, pat your skin dry.

Then Use a Toner

The next step isn’t exactly necessary and is optional, but you should do this when you can since it does go a long way in helping to improve your skin. With that being said, once you have cleansed your face, you’re going to want to use a top-notch toner.

All the toner will do is remove any residual dirt or impurities that may have been left behind from the cleanser, as well as restore your skin’s PH balance. Another thing that the toner will do is help the absorption rate of any skin care products that you’re going to be using next, such as moisturizer.

Next is Moisturizer

In case you are wondering, the primary purpose of a moisturizer is to hydrate your skin and help it lock in any moisture. This allows the skin to stay supple and soft while helping to improve elasticity. In terms of how much you should use, you should overdo it to the point where the moisturizer can no longer be absorbed after a few minutes.

Most people always remember to use moisturizer after washing their faces before bed. But it is recommended to use moisturizer at least twice a day, or whenever you feel like your skin could use a bit of moisture.

Eye Gel Goes a Long Way

Step number 4 is also optional, but again, it goes a long way in helping to improve the quality of your skin, and that is to use eye gel. You may have noticed that the skin around your eyes is quite thin and is the first area of your face to appear tired or wrinkled.

To preserve the skin in this area, it is essential to use eye gel. Much like the toner, all you need to do to apply the eye gel is dab it around your eye area. As mentioned, using eye gel is essential for reducing fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness.

Be Sure to Use Sun Protection

Now that you have the basics of a skincare routine, the next step is to understand that you should use sun protection every single day. UV rays are quite harmful to the skin and can increase the effects of aging. By using sunscreen every day, you can protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

It’s important to use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Even if it is cloudy outside, it is recommended to use sunscreen. Furthermore, you should still use sunscreen indoors because the sun shines through windows.

Perform Weekly Treatments

Finally, the last step in this simple skincare routine would be to perform weekly treatments. This is relatively optional, but as mentioned above, if you want to preserve the quality of your skin, you need to do weekly treatments.

Weekly treatments would include things like using a vase mask or performing exfoliation. Exfoliation is very helpful for removing any dead skin cells as well as excess dirt that may have clogged your pores. Just remember to exfoliate only once a week, but not more than three times.
