The construction for Washington Heights’ North End Food Hall from Sugar Hill Capital Partners is underway, signaled by the soon-to-close pop-up coffee shop that has perched in a 1000 square-foot space at 4300 Broadway at 183rd Street since December. The pop-up from Filtered Coffee, with locations in the South Bronx and Hamilton Heights, will likely be one of the tenants in the 6,000 square foot food hall on track to open in the fall.
Other tenants among the seven kiosks may include Mess Hall, the neighborhood bar offering cocktails and craft beer in Harlem, as well as stalls specializing in tacos, burgers, and barbecue. North End will be designed by NADA out of Harlem, with renderings of the space on its website.
This is one of three uptown food halls in-progress, with South Bronx developer and Somerset Partners’ Keith Rubenstein working on Bruckner Market, a 16,000 square-foot warehouse at 9 Bruckner Boulevard. It will have a brewery, a tasting room, and a rooftop beer garden. (This hall is not to be confused with Refettorio Ambrosiano, the soup kitchen from Massimo Bottura and Robert De Niro in conjunction with the Italian consulate.)
Farther south, the Upper West Side will be getting its own food hall, with Italian restaurant Cipriani having signed onto a new Upper West Side food hall, a 28,000-square-foot space that’s being billed as an “experiential food market” at 30 Riverside Boulevard from 59th to West 61st Streets.
If North End Food Hall opens this year, it will join Canal Street Market, Gotham Market at the Ashland, DeKalb Market Hall, and City Acres in FiDi, opening this week, among food halls that have debuted 2017. Stay tuned for updates.
