Verra Mobility Launches Workforce Development Program With Renaissance Technical Institute In Harlem

December 27, 2023

Verra Mobility Corporation, a leading provider of smart mobility technology solutions, has launched a new workforce development program.

The program has been lunched in partnership with Renaissance Technical Institute designed to provide New Yorkers with the training needed to begin a career in information technology at Verra Mobility.

Participants will receive training in the skills necessary to support fundamental hardware and software-related topics over the course of a few months. The free program is designed to train adults for rewarding careers in technical fields, including processor specialists, command center technicians, team supervisors, and other positions in Verra Mobility’s newly opened operations center in New York City, which will host approximately 50 employees.

Training for the first cohort is underway, and Verra Mobility will continue collaborating with Renaissance Technical Institute to recruit students and generate a pipeline for future team members. Additional curriculum will be added for individuals added to the company’s talent pipeline. Verra Mobility expects to hire up to 35 people for its operations center in the first half of 2024.

“We are proud to partner with Renaissance Technical Institute to train New Yorkers to be a part of our worldwide traffic safety and mobility operations,” said Belinda Olivares, VP of Service Enablement at Verra Mobility. “We look forward to welcoming well-trained, highly motivated New Yorkers to our team through this workforce development program for many years to come.”

“Renaissance Technical Institute is thrilled to partner with Verra Mobility and share our passion for empowering and educating people to build better employment opportunities,” said David Hiraldo, Founder and Executive Director of Renaissance Technical Institute. “We encourage others to follow Verra Mobility’s example to participate in the advancement of our community and help inspire hundreds of students to get certified in careers and placed in jobs.”

“The company has partnered with the Harlem-based (RTI)…”

Verra Mobility supports traffic safety programs worldwide, like red-light enforcement and speed management in New York City. The company has partnered with the Harlem-based Renaissance Technical Institute to sponsor its information technology initiative to help prepare students for the workforce with the knowledge and tools they need to build successful careers with opportunities for employment upon graduation. Through this partnership, Verra Mobility and Renaissance Technical Institute will support underserved communities by equipping adults with the training, skills, and experience needed for career longevity.

“We are excited to give students an opportunity to launch successful careers while also giving back to the community. It also allows our company’s global operations to tap into some of the best talent out there,” said Olivares.

“…partners with other local businesses…”

To staff its New York City-based operations center with the best talent alongside RTI graduates, Verra Mobility also partners with other local businesses to provide excellent opportunities for New Yorkers looking for employment.

Renaissance Technical Institute

Renaissance Technical Institute (RTI) is a New York-based non-profit organization based in Harlem, New York, dedicated to empowering and transforming the lives of adults (17 years and older), the immigrant population, and the underserved communities by providing FREE vocational education and training that materialize in careers in the trades. We are on a mission to educate and inspire the youth and adults with an ‘ALL INCLUSIVE’ education and integrated vocational training. We fully support each student at our center by providing job-ready skills programs that help them unleash advancement and life-changing opportunities within a few months.

The FREE vocational training offered at RTI is geared especially to the youth ‘at risk’. We want these students to know that because they did not graduate from high school, they still have an opportunity with us to improve their lives and do better.

Students can learn one or more trade programs of their choice. Our programs prepare them to pass state examinations, leading them to obtain industry certifications, apprenticeships, and, in due course, job placements. Upon graduation, our students can work as Electricians, Plumbers, Solar Panel Installers, Carpenters, Optometrist Assistants, CDL drivers, etc. www.renaissancetechnicalinstitute.org.
