A statement from Upper Manhattan State Senator Marisol Alcántara on president Donald Trump’s statement:
From the first day of his administration, when I was arrested in front of Trump Tower, I have been vocal against the racism and sexism that he cannot or will not avoid spouting.
This latest comment is confirmation to myself and to millions of black and brown people across this country that President Trump does not consider himself our president. This President’s ultimate goal is to pin Americans against each-other based on the color of their skin. The only blessing he has given this country is confirmation that, as people of color have been saying for decades, racism is still alive and well in the United States of America, and that we all have a duty to continue the fight for racial justice.
