Senator Adriano Espaillat, Council Members Ydanis Rodriguez and Mark Levine, and Assemblyman Herman Denny Farrell announce the first annual Outdoor Uptown Games, to be held Sunday (June 14) at Riverbank State Park.
First Outdoor Uptown Games. More than 500 students in 3rd-8th grades from more than 40 schools will receive athletic instruction and participate in short and long distance races, team relays, shot put, hurdles and other events. The Uptown Games isn’t about competition. It’s an opportunity to address the disproportionally high obesity levels in Washington Heights and northern Manhattan by instilling healthy habits in children, and offering them exposure to track & field disciplines in a stress free, supportive atmosphere.
Students form all over Upper Manhattan, Senator Adriano Espaillat, Council Members Ydanis Rodriguezand Mark Levine, Assemblyman Herman Denny Farrell, will be at the Uptown Games.
