Uptown Council Member Rodriguez Calls For Expansion Of The Collision Investigative Squad

May 2, 2019

The family of DJ Jinx Paul and Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez will be back on May 15th to continue advocating for justice for the death of Jean Paul Guerrero. Council Member Rodriguez, colleagues, and family will return to call on an increase in resources for the Collision Investigation Squad (CIS).

The City of New York has seen an increase in hit-and-runs by over 25% within the last couple of years. At least one person was killed each week in a hit-and-run in prior years. Overall the NYPD has only been able to successfully arrest 1% of the drivers involved in a hit-and-run. Expanding the resources for the Collision Investigation Squad would ensure that all families that have been affected by the negligence of a driver receive justice.

Council Member Rodriguez is happy to work alongside Speaker Cory Johnson and fellow Council Members to expand the NYPD’s Collision Investigative Squad. As the Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Council Member Rodriguez understands the epidemic of hit-and-runs in the city must be addressed.
