Swizz Beatz Accused Balenciaga Of Stealing A Classic Ruff Ryders Shirt Design

Fashion designer Balenciaga was been appropriating fashion ideas from Harlem since the 1940;s. Today Fader reported that shortly after Gucci was accused of ripping off Dapper Dan‘s one of a kind piece (“it was an homage“), Swizz Beatz (Alicia Keys husband) took to Instagram to point out another uncanny similarity between a major design house’s runway design and a classic street style.

Balenciaga‘s Spring/Summer 2018 collection features a buttondown with the Balenciaga logo, but the stylization of the font is noticeably similar (almost exactly the same) to the font of a Ruff Ryders shirt from 2000.”We must have a talk about this Ruff Ryder shirt ASAP,” Swizz Beatz wrote on Instagram, before posting a picture of the original Ruff Ryders shirt, circa 2000, for comparison. “Call me back blessings. I Might just want you to open up a fashion school in the Bronx or Harlem just so you can give back to the culture.”

Representatives for Swizz Beatz and Balenciaga did not immediately return requests for comment.
