Somi’s ‘Petite Afrique,’ Dedicated To Harlem’s African Immigrant Community (Video)

Somi’s new album, Petite Afrique, is a song cycle dedicated to the gentrification of Harlem’s African immigrant community in Little Africa on 116th Street (in central Harlem) —her most political work to date. She has collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Common to Hugh Masekela, and is a dedicated activist and founder of the nonprofit organization New Africa Live.
