Premiering globally on Apple TV+ on February 16th, 2024. “Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin,” explores the life of Franklin Armstrong, the first Black character introduced into the Peanuts Gang over 50 years ago.
“Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin,” was executive produced by Craig Schulz, co-written by Franklin’s namesake, cartoonist Robb Armstrong, and directed by Emmy Award-winner Raymond S. Persi.
The first official trailer (below) of “Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin,” shows how Charlie Brown and Franklin first met and the moments leading up to the big race. As the duo become partners trying to win the competition together, Franklin shows Charlie Brown his signature dance moves comically asking if he could be related to James Brown!
“Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin” is a must-watch for longtime Peanuts fans and newcomers alike. Peanuts fans were initially introduced to Franklin’s character nearly 56 years ago, and until now, little was known about his family, origin, or backstory. Franklin joined the cast after retired teacher Harriet Glickman wrote a letter to “Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz, asking that he integrate his work after the assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968.
“Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin,” explores several themes including:
