Seitu’s World: Harlem’s Rev. Sharpton Talks The Exonerated 5, Trump, Life, And More

April 8, 2023

On Saturday morning, April 8, 2023, photojournalist Seitu Oronde was with Rev. Al Sharpton and others at the National Action Network, 106 West 145th Street in HarlemNY.

Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will welcome Corey Wise and Dr. Yusef Salaam to NAN’s House of Justice Saturday to address the community in the wake of the arrest of former President Donald Trump.

“…what goes around comes around.”

Upon his arrest this week, Rev. Sharpton said: “It’s not lost on those of us who were there in 1989 that Donald Trump will likely walk into the same courthouse where the Exonerated 5 were falsely convicted for a crime they did not commit. Let’s not forget that it was Donald Trump who took out full-page ads calling for these five Black and Brown young men to get the death penalty. This is the same man who’s now calling for violence when he has to go through the criminal justice system. The same man will have to stand up in a courtroom and see firsthand what the criminal justice system is like. All I can say is, what goes around comes around.”

National Action Network (NAN)

National Action Network is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the Nation with chapters throughout the entire United States. Founded in 1991 by Reverend Al Sharpton, NAN works within the spirit and tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to promote a modern civil rights agenda that includes the fight for one standard of justice.
