New York City Council Member Yusef Salaam, a Central Park Five exoneree, claims an unjust police stop in Harlem, stating the NYPD officer refused to explain the reason.
Salaam, driving with his family, withdrew from a planned police ride-along in protest.
The NYPD contends the officer pulled over Salaam for illegal tint, noting his official council business and releasing him.
Body-worn footage supports the officer’s account, according to the NYPD.
