Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation Teams Up With DoorDash For Back-To-School Supplies Giveaway

August 26, 2023

Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) partnered with DoorDash today for a school supplies distribution event.

The event will benefit families in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx that have been impacted by domestic violence. The goal of this year’s event is to ensure that 200 incredible children have the necessary resources to begin their school year with confidence and excitement.

DoorDash and NMIC have been collecting school supplies since July 25th, 2023, in an effort to ensure every child has the tools they need to thrive this school year, create life-long memories and achieve their educational potential.

The event culminated in the distribution of over 4,000 units of school supplies encompassing backpacks, calculators, notebooks, pencils, pens, glue, crayons, rulers, highlighters, paper clips, staplers, folders, erasers, pencil cases, and binders.

“We express our heartfelt gratitude to our community partners and individual community members who supported the campaign by purchasing items or making financial contributions to support the acquisition of school supplies for this exclusive event dedicated to families experiencing domestic violence,” said Rosanna Montilla-Payano, Director of Development at NMIC.

NMIC serves as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of countless people in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan community, including assisting children and families who may be in need of support.” said Ivan Garcia Senior Manager of Public Engagement at DoorDash. “We are honored to support their work this back-to-school season to help ensure that every child and family is equipped with the resources they need to be successful and reach their full potential this school year.”
