New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory for Wednesday, September 30th, 2015. According to the National Weather Service, a weak frontal system is approaching Harlem to Hollis in the New York City area and is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain tonight through Wednesday night.
The heaviest period of rain is expected overnight Tuesday through the early morning rush. A total of 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected with this event. Urban flooding is expected in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Flash flooding cannot be ruled out during the periods of heaviest rain.
If you must drive a vehicle, monitor weather and traffic reports for the latest road conditions, drive slowly, and do not drive over flooded roadways. Exercise caution when walking and avoid slippery surfaces, flood waters, and downed power lines.
