Mellody Hobson In Line To Become Starbucks’ CEO

With a number of Starbucks in Harlem, TV One reports that with the news of Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz stepping down (rumors are swirling he’s preparing for a presidential bid in 2020), it only makes sense for a sistah to join the ranks in the reported $450 billion company.

As the president of Ariel Investments, LLC, the nation’s largest African American investment firm, she is also widely known as the Chair of Afterschool Matters, a nonprofit that provides Chicago teens with high-quality out-of-school programs. Additionally, she offers financial tips weekly on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show.

And if she looks familiar, Mellody is married to filmmaker extraordinaire, George Lucas.
