As the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing, for the heartbreaking and human “Thanksgiving” episode of “Master of None,” Lena Waithe stops by to talk about her new project, “The Chi.” Produced entirely in its namesake city, “The Chi” is a timely coming-of-age story centering on a group of residents who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. Executive produced by Waithe, Common and Elwood Reid, the series focuses on the human stories behind the sensationalized headlines surrounding the South Side of Chicago.
