Join The NYRR And GHCC For The Percy Sutton Harlem 5K And Harlem Health Walk Launch With Harlem Week 2022

August 10, 2022

NYRR and the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) have once again teamed up for the Percy Sutton 5K and Harlem Health Walk on Saturday, August 13th, 2022.

This year’s event launches 2022 Harlem Week, an annual celebration of Harlem and its inspiration, legacy, and impact that runs from August 12-21, 2022.

Many of NYRR’s community programs will be out in full force, including NYRR Striders. Nearly 100 Striders from across New York City (Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island) will participate in both the Percy Sutton 5K and Health Walk, including several local Striders from the Harlem area and the Morningside Park Striders site.

NYRR Striders is a free walking and fitness program that offers physical activity and wellness resources for older adults looking to get active, stay fit or improve their health.

One Strider, Donna Chandler, who has lived in NYC her whole life, joined Striders in 2015 and loves the community, fitness, and social aspects.

The Harlem 5K is one of her favorite events of the year because of the history and fun atmosphere.

She’ll be joined this weekend by many of her fellow Striders family members who support, encourage, and cheer for one another throughout the duration of the races.

NYRR Striders is an inclusive environment for older adults who want to connect with other fitness-forward individuals.

More information can be found on the NYRR website.
