In-flight Entertainment

The in-flight entertainment offered by one airline may be different from those offered in another.

The selections usually vary depending on the duration of the air travel, as well as the origin and destination of the flight. Nevertheless, those listed below are the usual choices when it comes to in-flight entertainment.

Wi-Fi

Innovations, such as ground-based mobile broadband towers, as well as satellite technology, paved the way for the availability of Wi-Fi onboard. Among these two technologies, satellites provide a faster and more reliable connection, but it is also more expensive to maintain and upgrade compared to broadband towers. Nevertheless, with an internet connection, you can use your laptop or tablets to reply to your emails or access your social media accounts, keeping you updated even if you are miles high above the ground.

Movies and Shows

Another common type of in-flight entertainment is a selection of movies and videos that you can watch. Some airlines offer both local and international movies, both old and new. Others offer a wide variety of TV shows in different genres, including documentaries. However, you may notice that movies are often available only when the duration of your flight is relatively long, particularly for an international flight. On the other hand, there are instances wherein an in-flight video entertainment may not be offered for short trips or domestic flights.

Music

More often than not, airlines that offer video entertainment also provide audio entertainment for their passengers. Conversely, if movies and TV shows are not offered in your flight, there is a great possibility that in-flight music is also not available. This is because usually, the console used at the back of the headrest of your seat for the video entertainment is the same console used for the audio entertainment. However, there are planes that still offer in-flight music through the console in the armrest in your seat.

Games

Finally, there are airlines that also offer games on-board and these games can normally be accessed through the screen used to watch movies or TV shows. Tetris, crosswords, backgammon, and solitaire are some of the most common games offered, but there are airlines that also provide your favorite casino games. Nonetheless, you can use the Wi-Fi onboard to connect to the internet and access online roulette or a game of online slot, which is an excellent way to pass the time too. The ease of playing roulette or slots, as well as the visual excitement brought about by the wheel or the reels, will definitely capture your attention and give you an ultimate gaming experience, even while you are up in the air.

To wrap things up, the advancements in modern technology provided airlines with the capability of offering their passengers with onboard Wi-Fi in addition to their selection of movies and shows, as well as movies and games. Aside from these though, you also have the option of reading a book or a magazine to pass the long hours in flight. Otherwise, take advantage of the time you spend up in the air to get some sleep and rest.
