The WE ACT community mourns the loss of Phillip Morrow, who passed away on Saturday, September 25th, 2021. He joined Harlem‘s WE ACT’s board in 2000, and was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation.
In that capacity, he helped create more than 700 units of low-to-moderate income and special needs housing, with a similar number of units in the construction pipeline.
He also managed a number of community development programs, including commercial revitalization, industrial development, brownfield remediation, MWBE, youth services, and workforce development.
A wake will be held at Benta’s Funeral Home at 630 St. Nicholas Avenue in New York at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 4th, 2021, and the funeral will be at the Abyssinian Baptist Church at 132 West 138th Street, also in New York, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021.
