NYMag.com says she was discovered in her native city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, when she was a teenager, Liya Kebede is one of the lucky few models who continues to work steadily into her thirties now. She now lives in the village of Harlem, New York with her husband and two children, and runs her own clothing line, LemLem, which benefits Ethiopian women.
