Harlem’s Kathy Kuo Opens Luxe Home-Decor Store In Harlem

In the latest advance for Harlem retail, high-end online home-decor boutique Kathy Kuo Home has signed a lease for 2,350 square feet at 1961-1963 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd., the retail portion of the Morellino condo apartments building at 159 W. 118th Street in Harlem NY.

Terms of the 10-year lease weren’t disclosed. Retail asking rents in the neighborhood run from $70 to $100 per square foot.

Meant to serve as a “design bar” and showroom, it will be the first bricks-and-mortar location for Kathy Kuo, whose eclectic designs can be found at Neiman Marcus.

The Taipei-born designer, a Harlem resident, founded her company in 2007.

The lease was negotiated by Jake Velazquez of the Graff Team at Compass for Kuo, and SCG Retail’s Seth Kessler and Ian Rice for the landlord.
