On February 4th, 2024, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and seven Downstate Congressional Delegation members attended the JCRC-NY 2024 Congressional Breakfast.

The event was held in cooperation with UJA-Federation of New York and sponsored by Craig Newmark Philanthropies.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Schumer, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Harlem Representatives Adriano Espaillat, Dan Goldman, Mike Lawler, Grace Meng, Jerrold Nadler, and Ritchie Torres addressed 300 plus Jewish, and other faith, ethnic, and political leaders and diplomats on topics ranging from the Israel-Hamas war, the rise in antisemitism, security, and the current status of the U.S.-Israel relationship. Ronen and Orna Neutra, parents of 22-year-old American hostage Omer, spoke on behalf of the hostage families.

“… share our … deep concern and demonstrate that we are not alone. …”

“While over 100 Israelis are still being held by Hamas in Gaza, it was important and timely for our elected officials, including Senate Majority Leader Schumer and House Democratic Leader Jeffries, to share our community’s deep concern and demonstrate that we are not alone.  They stand with us and we appreciate their efforts to ensure that the hostages are brought home immediately and that Jewish communities in the United States, Israel, and all over the world are safe and secure,” said Noam Gilboord, JCRC-NY Interim CEO.
