In a collaboration between MOME (Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment) and the NYU Steinhardt Music Business Program.

The highly anticipated NYMM conference brought forth a comprehensive exploration of New York City’s vibrant music industry.

With a lineup of more than 40 esteemed experts, the event featured an array of enlightening speed talks, engaging panels, and captivating fireside chats.

One notable highlight of the NYMM conference was the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop in NYC, which took center stage through two compelling panels. These discussions served as a tribute to the profound influence and enduring legacy of this groundbreaking genre.

Among the esteemed panelists were luminaries such as Chinese Kitty, an artist who has captivated audiences with her unique artistry Harlem’s Doug E. Fresh, an entertainer and co-founder of the esteemed organization Hip Hop Public Health; Pete Ganbarg, the accomplished President of A&R at Atlantic Records; Vernon Reid, the visionary founder and primary songwriter of Living Colour; Jillian Hervey, a multi-talented artist known for her mesmerizing multidisciplinary work; Datwon Thomas, the esteemed Editor-in-Chief of VIBE; Ebro Darden, the trailblazing Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B at Apple Music; Kim Osorio, an executive producer at BET and VH1; and Torae Carr, an esteemed songwriter and recording artist from Internal Affairs Entertainment.

As the NYMM conference unfolded, it offered a captivating platform for these industry titans and many others to share their invaluable insights, experiences, and expertise.
