Hispanic Heritage Month is happening right now! This is a nationwide celebration of the contributions and achievements Hispanic and Latino Americans have made and continue to make from Harlem to Hollywood.
According to the 2017 U.S. Census Bureau, there are currently 58.8 million Hispanics and Latinos living in the U.S. with 3.5% (2 million) of the population being Dominicans.
During this month, Harlem World Magazine and others pay homage to the Hispanic/Latino culture and heritage. It is observed during the time period of September 15 to October 15, 2018 to commemorate the anniversary of independence for many brothers and sisters in Latin American countries including Costa Rica, El Salvador, México, Chile, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras.
