Harlem Alicia Keys To Publish Memoir” More Myself: A Journey” With Oprah

March 14, 2019

Today Entertainment Weekly reports that Harlem’s Alicia Keys has teamed up with a pretty reliable partner to help launch her next book.

Flatiron Books announced Wednesday that the music star will publish her personal narrative More Myself this fall, under Oprah Winfrey‘s book imprint An Oprah Book. Keys and Winfrey excitedly revealed the news in a video (above) which posted Wednesday afternoon.

“I couldn’t be more ecstatic to share this part of my journey so far and all the ways I am continuously learning to honor my truth,” Alicia Keys said in a statement. “Alongside my sister, mentor, and friend Oprah, this book is one of the most exciting chapters yet.”

“The result is a 360-degree perspective on Alicia’s path — from her girlhood in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem, to her career as a 15-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and record producer, to the process of self-discovery she’s still navigating.”

More Myself is described as “part autobiography, part narrative documentary.” Keys will discuss her journey through her own candid recounting, and the book will also include recollections from those who have walked alongside her. Says Flatiron, “The result is a 360-degree perspective on Alicia’s path — from her girlhood in Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem, to her career as a 15-time Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and record producer, to the process of self-discovery she’s still navigating.”

“I could feel the power of Alicia’s presence even before she belted out the first soulful notes of the lyrics that made her famous — ‘I keep on fallin’ in and out of love with you,’” Winfrey added. “I knew she had all those sparkling qualities that make stars shine. More important, Alicia has navigated the spotlight and pressures of fame while retaining a humble and beautiful spirit. I am honored she chose to share her personal story through my imprint.”

In the announcement video, Winfrey held a galley copy of More Myself, but neither she nor Keys had given any indication that this was in the works before.

More Myself: A Journey publishes November 5, 2019, and is available for pre-order.
