Get Ready, ‘Snow Alert’ issued for Harlem, NY


4173393616_23d998875e_oHarlem’s sanitation department has issued a “snow alert” starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Personnel are getting equipment and supplies ready.

Sanitation is coordinating snow clearing protocol with the Office of Emergency Management and the transportation department.

It’s continuing to monitor the forecast.

The National Weather Service is predicting around 1 to 3 inches of snow Tuesday in Harlem and its surrounding areas.

Information about storm responses can be obtained on the Harlem’s website or by calling 311.

Harlemites are also encouraged to sign up for the Notify NYC system. It sends information through phone calls, text messages and email alerts.

There have also been flight cancellations at area airports, including 27 at LaGuardia and 16 at Newark Liberty. Both airports are reporting two-hour delays.
