Ethiopian Emperor Haille Selassie Visits In Harlem, 1954 (Video)


First, the stylish Emperor of Ethiopian, Haille Selassie, toured at the top of the Empire State Building, then Emperor Selassie drove uptown to crowds waving, from apartment buildings to the crowded streets throughout the tour in Harlem, NY, 1954.

Honorable Selassie met then Harlem elected Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., at the Hotel Theresa on 124th Street and 7th Avenue (pictured above).

In addition, he received a baseball from Casey Stengel, then manager of the New York Yankees baseball team in Yankee Stadium.
