EmblemHealth And LaborPress Honor Union Members In Virtual Heroes Of Labor

November 30, 2020

EmblemHealth, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health insurers, and LaborPress, New York’s leading source for daily labor news and industry information, announced today they will host their next 9th Annual Heroes of Labor Event on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Wednesday’s event, the final in a series of three virtual programs honoring union members who have gone to great lengths to keep New York safe, will honor health care workers who continue to selflessly serve during New York City’s response to COVID-19.

Each event has honored some of New York’s bravest and best, including union leaders, maintenance workers, engineers, and firefighters who have sacrificed their time and health during the coronavirus pandemic.

This year’s honorees were chosen for demonstrating an overwhelming commitment to keeping our schools safe, streets clean, city running, people healthy, and ensuring New Yorkers can return to work safely.

“We are excited to continue to honor the men and women who continue to work hard to help our city during the pandemic,” said EmblemHealth President and CEO Karen Ignagni

“Health care workers in New York continue to keep others cared for and healthy, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their commitment to our communities at the final Heroes of Labor event,” said Ignagni

*Honorees for the event include:

  • Union President Judy Sheridan-Gonzalez, RN, New York State Nurses Association
  • Union President Frank Proscia, MD, Doctors Council, SEIU
  • Union President Carmen Charles, Local 420 DC 37 AFSCME
  • 1199 SEIU

*Honorees are subject to updates

Presenters at the event will include Karen Ignagni, President and Chief Executive Officer of EmblemHealth, Letitia James, New York State Attorney General, Neal Tepel, Founder and President of Labor Press, and Roberto Hormazabal, Assistant Vice President of Labor Sales of EmblemHealth

The event will be held virtually and is free and open to all. Those wishing to view the program should RSVP here.
