August 4, 2014

Go back in time to the 1980s in New York City! Uptown Bounce: Summer Nights @ 104th & Fifth continues on Wednesday, August 6 with a throwback to the golden age of hip hop. At El Museo del Barrio, DJ duo D’Marquesina will be spinning throwback hits and the Bronx will come alive with artist Perla de Leon, who will describe her experience photographing the borough in the 1980s. At the City Museum, DJ Grand Master Caz will be spinning classic hip hop tracks and the NBS (Nothing But Skills) Crew will show off their breakdancing styles. Video projections by Erika Harrsh, Leo Castañeda and Geraldo Mercado as well as sidewalk art by Murcielagos Fumando Collective will be featured.

Uptown Bounce is the first-ever joint series between El Museo del Barrio and the City Museum, featuring musical performances, gallery talks, art-making workshops, breakdancing demos, renowned DJs, festive summer drinks, local food vendors, and more. Festivities will continue on the Museum’s front terraces on Wednesday, August 13. Both Museums, located next door to one another at 104th Street and Fifth Avenue, will offer free admission and extended hours.

Wednesday, August 6, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
