TV One reports that Harlem man Dapper Dan‘s forthcoming biography is making its way to the big screen thanks to actor and comedian, Jerrod Carmichael and the executives at Sony. Dan, whose real name is Daniel Day, has long since been crowned the godfather of hip hop fashion, styling the likes of Aaliyah, Diddy, Eric B. & Rakim (who just announced their first tour in 25 years), LL Cool J, JAY-Z, Salt-N-Pepa, Mike Tyson and more.
Set of course in Harlem, The Hollywood Reporter details the biopic as a “high-stakes coming-of-age story.” The film will reportedly debut in theaters in 2019, following the release of Dan’s memoir.
