Cops Cuff Harlem Man Suspected In Queens-Midtown Tunnel Hit-And-Run

harlem-hit-and-runA tipster helped police catch a hit-and-run driver from Harlem who dragged a 60-year-old woman for a block near the Midtown Tunnel and then moved two traffic cones to escape, cops said Wednesday.

Robert Schuman, 63, was driving a minivan when he hit the woman at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday as she crossed E. 38th St. by Tunnel Entrance St., cops said. She suffered a serious leg injury and trauma to her body.

Schuman then drove east onto E. 37th St., against traffic, and went north on First Ave., cops said. Video shows the driver get out of the minivan, move two orange cones and then get back in and leave.

The Harlem man is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to yield to a pedestrian. A woman answering his cell phone declined comment Wednesday.
