CHE Behavioral Health Services Announces It Has Reached Agreements With Insurers

October 21, 2020

CHE Behavioral Health Services (CHE), a leading national provider of behavioral health services for over 25 years,

announced today that telehealth treatments are now covered by insurance for tens of millions of Americans.

CHE has reached agreements with 15 insurers in New York State alone.

CHE launched its innovative telehealth platform in response to the overwhelming mental health needs arising from the COVID-19 crisis. CHE, which has historically provided behavioral health services in skilled nursing facilities, is now able to reach patients who are 21 years and older with its virtual psychotherapy.

CHE is currently doing over 15,000 behavioral telehealth visits every month and employs over 700 doctoral-level psychologists including 400 in New York.

The insurance companies that currently approve telehealth appointments from CHE professionals include but are not limited to:

  • Aetna
  • Fidelis
  • Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Humana
  • Medicare
  • United Healthcare/Optum
  • Blue Shield of CA
  • Horizon NJ Health

To ensure greater access to behavioral healthcare, CHE’s mission is to contract with most major health insurers for telehealth. For those covered, virtual psychotherapy is available at little to no cost.

The company also noticed that much of what is touted as online teletherapy is often chatting or texting rather than the video psychotherapy service that CHE provides which is truly dedicated to an individual’s needs.

CHE’s telehealth appointments are currently available in:

  • California
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Kentucky
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania

CHE’s Associate Clinical Director, Dr. Julie Futrell, said, “When Covid-19 hit, CHE knew the mental health strains on people would be tremendous. As a company, CHE made it our mission to be part of the solution by figuring out how to make mental health care services accessible to as many people as possible.

There are a lot of companies out there charging people to text or chat, and there can certainly be a value to that, but I would not call it psychotherapy.

CHE’s desire is to provide quality psychotherapy that really pays attention to people’s individual needs and helps them navigate this difficult time.”
