Celebrate ATL Black Gay Pride 2018

August 27, 2018

Atlanta Black Gay Pride, the country’s leading LGBTQ annual pride marks its 22nd-year celebration with a roaring line-up occurring during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

This year promises to be a blowout with an exciting entertainment line-up that includes Trina, Tamar Braxton,

Ray J & Princess Love Norwood and more. A portion of proceeds from the weekend’s festivities will benefit homeless LGBT youth and those infected/affected with HIV/AIDS via The Vision Community Foundation.

This year’s celebration offers a variety of cultural, educational, and entertainment activities designed for all participants. Daily activities will include film screenings, educational panels/forums, workshops, counseling sessions, day parties, comedy showcases, a booze cruise and so much more. The host hotel, The Georgian Terrace, serves as the epicenter for lodging, convention, and general Atlanta information needs. Pride nightlife events will take place in many of Atlanta’s premiere venues. Atlanta Black Pride organizers, in conjunction with the Mayor’s office and the Atlanta Police Department, have taken extra precautions to ensure that all celebration participants have a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great peach state. The 2018 Atlanta Black Gay Pride takes on a special meaning this year with the LGBTQI++ civil right being at risk in today’s political climate.

The year’s celebration host hotel is The Georgian Terrace Hotel (659 Peachtree Street NE Atlanta, Georgia 30308). Attendees can visit the vendor marketplace, pick up pride materials and connect at the historic Atlanta hotel during the five-day celebration.

On Sunday, September 2, Atlanta’s Piedmont Park will showcase the 7th annual Pure Heat Community Festival; also known as a free “day of unity.” The cultural event will be equipped with market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes & giveaways, all designed to bring together the spirit of community, pride, and vision. The Pure Heat Community Festival is a front seat into a spectacular gathering of minority LGBTQ people and their allies in the heart of Atlanta. The festival will include special award presentations to surprise talent.

“Atlanta Black Gay Pride is a dynamic opportunity to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of the LGBT community. People from all over come to this city to celebrate themselves and others and its truly beautiful. I’ve witnessed the growth and development of our community each year and 2018 promises to be even greater than previous years,” says Traxx Girls Inc. founder, Melissa Scott.

“Atlanta Black Pride provides an exceptional platform to connect the LBGT community and its allies globally. Black Pride serves as an opportunity to raise awareness of social ills specific to our community and potential solutions. Equally important, this celebration provides an opportunity to recognize our cultural differences and vast accomplishments” says Rockstars Production founder, JuJu Rock.

The 4th Annual Queer Black Film Festival (#QBFF) returns during Atlanta Black Gay Pride 2018, presented by The Vision Community Foundation and filmmakers Courtney Walter & Onyx Keesha. The film festival takes place Saturday, September 1st at The Georgian Terrace Hotel. The festival is a celebration of films and filmmakers of the African diaspora, who identify as LGBTQ.
