Big Freedia And Shea Diamond Performing In Virtual Fundraiser For Black Trans Organization

The Unique Woman’s Coalition announced today it will be holding their virtual fundraiser event Unique Woman’s Coalition Community Celebration on July 11, 2020 at 3 pm PT / 6 pm ET. The fundraiser will be hosted by Drag Race alumna Gia Gunn and founder of Unique Woman’s Coalition (UWC) Chela Demuir. It will be streamed on YouTube with all proceeds going to the Unique Woman’s Coalition.

The event will feature musical performances from notable black trans artists including cultural ambassador of Bounce music Big Freedia, singer/songwriter Shea Diamond, Grammy-nominated songwriter Jaila Simms, drag queen Calypso Jete Balmain from HBO MAX’s Legendary, Atlanta-based artist/musician Royce Hall, singer and poet Kyler O’Neal, musician Teyana Trendz, and singer/songwriter Neverending Nina. Downbeat Entertainment LLC will produce the fundraiser event.

The Unique Woman’s Coalition Community Celebration will celebrate the 20+ years of coordinated efforts the organization has made to increase awareness to issues affecting Black Trans community. The event also furthers the organization’s goal to elevate and empower the voices and narratives of the Trans people of color.

As co-host Gia Gunn notes, “This is the opportunity for all of us to celebrate the T in the LGB!”

The Unique Woman’s Coalition (UWC)​ was founded by community Pioneer Chela Demuir as a direct response for coordinated efforts to increase awareness of issues affecting Black Trans community.
