Battle Of Fort Washington Commemoration & Artist Talks


Be transported back in time just north of Harlem and celebrate our local history!

This year marks the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Washington, a key event during the Revolutionary War that took place in today’s Fort Tryon Park.

Watch a blacksmith demonstration, listen to live 18th-century music, make arts and crafts, and play games from the revolutionary period.

Tour the battle scene with heroine Margaret Cochran Corbin.

Prizes will be offered for the most authentic costumes! Pack a picnic lunch and join us.

Talks with artist, Zaq Landsberg, creator of the park’s temporary art installation, “Tomb Effigy of Margaret Corbin” take place on Linden Terrace at 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., on Sunday, November 14, 2021, 12:00-3:00 p.m. Fort Tryon Park’s Cafe Lawn get the details here.
