Diddy’s Harlem Charter School: Allegedly A Turbulent Environment

March 18, 2024

Once hailed for its promise of an “elite education” and a mission to empower historically disadvantaged students, Capital Preparatory Harlem.

Linked to hip-hop mogul Diddy, now stands accused of failing to deliver on its lofty goals.

Reports from The Cut, paint a grim picture of the institution, describing an atmosphere rife with chaos, fear, and unfulfilled promises.

Allegations include teacher shortages, violence, neglected students, and shaky leadership, all undermining the school’s mission.

Adding to the controversy, a bedbug infestation went unaddressed, leaving parents to discover the situation through their children.

Despite Diddy’s public association with the school, insiders reveal his minimal involvement.

Instead of inspiration, some parents feel let down, with claims that the administration even involved the police over minor infractions like uniform violations.

While Capital Prep Schools dispute these accounts as “fabrications,” concerns remain unaddressed. Representatives for the school and its co-founder, Dr. Steve Perry, have remained silent in response to inquiries from VIBE magazine. The timing of a recent board meeting cancellation, just days after The Cut’s exposé, raises further questions.

Diddy’s partnership with the prep school ended amidst sexual assault allegations in November 2023. Dr. Perry cited organizational health as the reason for the split, marking a disappointing turn for a venture once hailed as a dream come true by Diddy.

Despite his $1 million donation to the Bronx location, questions linger about the impact of his involvement and the future of Capital Prep Schools,”in 2022, according to CBS News.
