How To Get Stains Out Of Carpet

March 29, 2022

Cleanliness in the house is the main indicator of coziness and comfort. The main place to collect dust, stains, and odors in most cases is the carpet. Regular use of a vacuum cleaner (at least every other day) allows you to keep carpets clean and extend their life. Every six months, the carpet should be cleaned more seriously — with a special vacuum cleaner.

Special detergents are suitable for carpets made of synthetic materials. Woolen and silk products do not tolerate chemicals and strong moisture, so any cleaning agent must be diluted with water. If you are not sure that you can succeed in this alone, address carpet cleaning Spokane and receive the best results in no time.

How to Remove Stains from the Carpet

If a complex stain appears on the carpet, it should be removed as soon as possible. The longer the carpet is dirty, the harder it will be to clean. Dirt spreads on threads and fibers and is absorbed tightly.

The most common examples of stains and ways to remove them:

  • Mold: use hydrogen peroxide.
  • Felt-tip pens: wipe the carpet with peroxide and then wash it with white soap.
  • Blood, berries, candy, chocolate, soft drinks, coffee, sauces, ice cream: hydrogen peroxide whitens these stains without destroying carpet dyes. Apply peroxide with a sponge on the spots and rinse with water several times. If the stain has not disappeared, wash it with soapy water. Repeat the procedure until the stain disappears. If the stain is still well visible — apply peroxide again, wait for one hour, then rinse. Repeat the procedure as needed. The second way is to wash the carpet with clean water, then with detergent, and finally use lemon juice (can be used for colored carpets).

  • Alkaline cat excrement, beer: vinegar, and water. Mix 1 cup of vinegar in 1 cup of water. Apply the solution to the stain with a sponge (or with an aerosol spray) and wash off. If the stain has not disappeared — wash it with soapy water. Repeat the procedure until the stain disappears.
  • Ketchup, cough syrups, mixed drinks, soy sauce, watercolor: such stains are neutralized by a mixture of 1 tablespoon of ammonia and half a glass of water. Scrape off the stain with a spoon or knife. Apply ammonia solution with a cloth or spray. Wipe off the excess with a dry cloth. If the stain has not disappeared — wash it with soapy water. Repeat the procedure until the stain disappears. If soapy water does not help, use hydrogen peroxide. It is important to remember that ammonia is a toxic substance, so the room where the carpet is cleaned should be well ventilated. This solution cannot be used for wool carpets, as it can destroy wool fibers. For wool, you should use clean water.

If the old stain is strongly absorbed in the surface, it is necessary to soak the area with a stain remover and sprinkle it with baking soda. After the carpet dries, it must be vacuumed.
