Tonight, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine hosts a landmark Black History Month event celebrating Hip-Hop’s rich legacy in Harlem, NY.
The event acknowledges the borough’s significant role in spreading this cultural movement globally, starting from its roots in the Bronx and flourishing in Manhattan, notably Harlem.
Featuring a stellar lineup of honorees and speakers from the Hip-Hop community, including WBLS, Mary Flowers, D-Nice, The Apollo Theater, Ernie Paniccioli, Doug E. Fresh, Fab 5 Freddy, Marley Marl, and Grandmaster Flash, the evening promises engaging discussions and reflections on Hip-Hop’s influence.
The event kicks off at 6:00 PM with DJ Chuck Chillout’s dynamic mix, followed by keynote remarks from Borough President Levine and presentations from the distinguished honorees. A panel discussion and Q&A session curated by Keisha Sutton James will provide deeper insights into Hip-Hop’s impact on Manhattan’s cultural landscape.
