Work Begins On The Cathedral North Site Development

Morningside Heights residents may have noticed a little bit of activity at the North Site Development of The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. That’s because demolition has begun for the construction of a new 15-story apartment building.The North Site Development sits next to the Cathedral on West 113th Street between Morningside Drive and Amsterdam Avenue in Harlem.The project was developed through the partnership of church officials and Morningside Associates LLC.A new website www.cathedralnorthsitedevelopment.com will showcase the building’s progress as well as the project’s job objectives and opportunities.The North Site Development will contain 430 studio, one and two bedroom rental apartments of which 87 will be affordable housing units giving Harlem residents more neighborhood housing options.

Morningside Associates plans to break ground in early spring.
