Comparison of the Manaslu Circuit Trek and the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Manaslu Trek

The actual period will be determined by your walking experience, physical fitness, speed, and the number of days of acclimatization included in your plan.

The trek normally takes between 10 and 14 days. Aside from acclimatization days, you must walk for an average of 6-7 hours per day. Some sections of the trail, such as Machhakhola to Jagat, Jagat to Deng, and Deng to Namrung, are long and strenuous.

If you’re looking for additional excitement, you can extend your trip with a week-long hike to Tusm Valley. The trail separates from the Nyak Phedi Suspension Bridge. So, depending on your preference, you can take a two- or three-week journey.

The Annapurna hike begins in Besisahar and ends in Nayapul. The duration of this voyage is also determined by your walking experience, physical fitness, speed, and the number of days of acclimatization.

Unlike Manaslu, Annapurna routes are more flexible due to the dirt motor road. This risky drive saves you several days of walking before and after crossing the Throngla Pass.

It takes approximately 15–18 days on average. Aside from the acclimatization day, you must walk for approximately 6-7 hours every day. Experts recommend spending at least one day in Manang to acclimate.

Short Treks

These two treks also provide 7-day short treks. The 7-Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a strenuous challenging trek that is the shortest route tailored for young and fit trekkers traveling on budget trips. Other treks also provide this short adventure for their crazy trekkers. This is one of the most popular trekking destinations on Everest Base Camp Trek. Every year, trekkers from all around the world visit Nepal to trek this route.

The lodges are similar throughout the Manaslu Trail. The villagers offer you very basic lodges without many amenities. There are also a few large modern guest houses with hot showers, electricity, and even wifi.

Besides, in Dharamsala, the last overnight place before Larkya La Pass, all the rooms are huge, and large beds are fitted. The stay is much warmer than in other places. It is a surprisingly amazing experience. They also provide tented accommodations for you to spend a short night there.

The price is around USD 30-35 per person per day on average for food and lodging. An additional charge is taken for extra drinks, snacks, and desserts.

Compared to Manaslu, the Annapurna region’s lodging and food prices are comparatively lower. The amazing part is that even though prices are low, the accommodation is even more comfortable and luxurious.

Hot showers, Wi-Fi, western toilets, soft beds, and extensive menus are all available through the Annapurna Circuit. They charge USD 25–30 per person every day and extra costs for extra items like snacks and booze, as usual.
