City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez statement regarding NYPD officer shooting: “I’m saddened to learn of the death of an on-duty NYPD officer this evening in Jamaica, Queens. This officer was protecting his community by responding to the commission of a crime when he was tragically shot by an armed suspect. I join his family and all New Yorkers in mourning the loss of this courageous officer and extend my deepest condolences. I am also praying for the well-being of the other NYPD officer wounded in the incident.”
