Probably the most famous speech of the 20th century by the Southern Leadership Conference’s Dr. Martin Luther King as he addressed marchers on Wednesday, August 28, 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. We present to you the heartfelt speech which reminds us the fundamental rights and values of men and women from Harlem to Harare in its full version.
We remember Dr. King, and we remember his Call to Action:
“When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!'”
