March 20, 2019

The Red Bull Music Academy has revealed special performances from Rosalía, Tierra Whack, Teyana Taylor and more for its 2019 festival in New York.

Latin Grammy-winning Catalan singer and songwriter Rosalía opens the festival, performing music from her critically lauded 2018 album El Mal Querer with a full live band, brilliant dancers and LED visuals. For one of the first shows inside the newly renovated Webster Hall, the breakthrough performer will expand on her Red Bull show in Madrid last fall.

Meanwhile, Harlem-born Taylor teams up with Red Bull again to bring to life House of Petunia — a spectacular audio-visual experience spearheaded by her all-female production company, The Aunties, featuring provocative stage design and mesmerizing choreography from a world-class team of dancers.

And Whack will create an immersive show for the festival at the iconic Rainbow Room, bringing her unconventional and cinematic songs to life.

This year, during two evenings co-presented by Park Avenue Armory, FKA Twigs will debut an intimate and dramatic live show inside the Armory’s iconic Wade Thompson Drill Hall.

The seventh installment of the music series will also include the premiere of Holly Herndon’s pioneering new live show PROTO, showcasing music from her latest album.

The festival will take place across New York beginning April 30 and close out on May 18 with Nyege Nyege Night featuring a propulsive and bass-heavy set from Ugandan DJ Kampire, who will make her US debut, co-headlining with rising singeli duo MCZO & Duke.

Additional performances throughout the festival will include rapper/producer JPEGMAFIA, NYC’s Onyx Collective as well as musician and activist Moor Mother.

Tickets for Red Bull Music Festival New York go on sale Wednesday (March 20) at 10 a.m. EST via redbull.com/nyc.
