Harlem Public School Break-In By Teens

Patch reports that the NYPD is trying to identify a group of teenagers wanted in connection with thefts from a Harlem public elementary and middle school, police said.

The group of teenagers broke into P.S. 149 Sojourner Truth on West 118th Street on two separate nights in July and searched through various classrooms, police said. To avoid being spotted by security cameras within the school, the teen burglars wrapped their faces with their shirts, police said.

On July, 23 the teens entered the school shortly before 9 p.m. and stole a pair of ear buds and a jar of coins from a room, police said. Three days later the teens returned and swiped a two laptops, a tablet and a video game console from the school, police said.

The NYPD does not know how the teens gained entry to the school, police said.

Police released photos of the teenage suspects this week. The only identifying details police have about the suspects is that they are likely teenagers and were last seen wearing shirts around their faces.
