On Monday, November 25, 2024, at 3 pm EST families will gather at the beloved NYC staple Melba’s Restaurant to receive turkeys free of charge.
Through the collaboration of Melba Wilson at Melba’s Restaurant, 300 West 114th Street, Harlem, NY, and God’s Love We Deliver, with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), this Thanksgiving giveaway is set to bring warmth, gratitude, and a holiday staple to Harlem families.
God’s Love currently serves over 17,000 clients and their families each year. Last year, they cooked and delivered 154,619 meals to 559 individuals (clients, caregivers, and children) living in Harlem.
Nearly a third of Central Harlem residents live below the federal poverty level. Poverty and food insecurity are closely linked, and God’s Love’s medically tailored meals help ensure that Harlem residents who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves have access to healthy food that supports their treatment of or recovery from 200+ diagnoses.
God’s Love We Deliver
God’s Love We Deliver cooks and home-delivers nutritious, medically tailored meals for people too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Founded in 1985 as a response to the AIDS pandemic, God’s Love now serves people living with more than 200 different diagnoses. God’s Love addresses food and nutrition insecurity, and supports the health and well-being of their clients, by providing ongoing nutrition assessment, education, and counseling, advocating for food and nutrition support, and delivering medically tailored meals. God’s Love is a non-sectarian organization serving individuals living with illness, and their children and caregivers. With a community of thousands of volunteers, they home-delivered more than 4 million medically tailored meals to nearly 143,000 individuals last year.
