Exclusive: Something Strange Happening Downtown … (update)

eartha;s hood on 23rd streetHarlem Writers Guild member Eartha Watts-Hicks writes that something strange occurring in my neighborhood.  It is “rumored” to be an explosion in the lobby of the building on Lexington Avenue between 26th and 27th on the west side of the street that have been closed off.

Update: The FDNY began evacuating 88 Lexington Avenue right before 1:00 p.m. The building is located on the corner of Lexington and 26th Street. The incident happened in the lobby of the building around 12:45 p.m. Intitial reports indicated some sort of explosion, possibly a firecracker or small package in the lobby. The blast prompted calls to 911 and a large response of fire ans EMS to the scene. They closed streets and began evacuations. The first responders could not find the cause of the reported explosion, and so they followed reports up to the 16th floor. Investigators eventually determined a tire on a dolly blew during a delivery. No injuries were reported.
