With the help of Loews Hotel Atlanta, Infiniti cars, Spa at Serenbe, The Hil on
The Hill at Serenbe, Concentrics Restaurants, Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theater Company, Mass Appeal Pro Training by Antoine, Wade Ford, Joey Sommervile and select Atlanta area businesses..… veteran travel writer, Michael Andre Adams, pays homage to the first honoree in “The Celebrity Series”.

The brainchild of Adams, “The Celebrity Series,” debuting August 1, on Adams’s own online lifestyle portal, Traveling In My World (www.travelinginmyworld.com) and Youtube, identifies everyday heroes across the country doing extraordinary good for their communities with no promise of fame, and rewards them with the pearls of the travel and hospitality industries. Instead of simply writing about the star treatment provided by the many world-class businesses and services of a destination, Adams, through “The Celebrity Series” will bring them to life via the true stars of our country who selflessly give to improve the lives of others.

For the inaugural edition of “The Celebrity Series” that kicked off in July, Adams and his team have selected the destination of Atlanta and Dr. Deborah Cooley of the DeKalb County School District. An educator in the truest sense of the word, Dr. Cooley is a reading specialist at DeKalb Transition School where she works diligently and successfully to set a new course in the lives of teen-aged students with troubled pasts. Cooley’s unique teaching methodologies allow her to reach and teach students generally deemed un-teachable and cast away by society. Dr. Cooley’s commitment and dedication has won her numerous “Teacher of the Year” honors by her peers and, most importantly, the respect and gratitude of the many young people whose lives she’s helped transform.

To celebrate Cooley and reveal what’s hot and new in Atlanta, Adams has brought together like-minded partners including Loews Hotel Atlanta, to welcome Dr. Cooley and her husband, Henry Cooley Jr., an
employee of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, on a fun filled three-day getaway as follows…

– Celebrating the recent wedding anniversary they missed while Dr. Cooley recovered from a health challenge, the happy couple’s getaway will include an intimate luncheon at Loew’s Eleven Restaurant, with surprise special guest – WXIA news anchor, Brenda Wood—an Atlanta luminary Dr. Cooley has always wanted to meet. Following lunch, a second surprise will be the presentation of the car Dr. Cooley has longed to drive—a 2012 Infiniti QX56 SUV for use throughout the getaway, to be presented by a representative from Infiniti. Later that evening the happy couple will experience dinner at one of Atlanta’s hottest new restaurants—The Spence, the latest from Top Chef favorite Richard Blais, followed by jazz at LIVE at Loews.

– A decadent breakfast before heading south of the city for a day at Serenbe, to include a reviving couples spa treatment at Spa at Serenbe followed by lunch at The Hil on the Hill at Serenbe, with free time to meander about the extensive open fields and sustainable grounds. The Cooleys will cap off the day as the special guests of Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theater Company for the world premiere stage production of the 1967 film that starred Sidney Poitier, Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner.

– Wellness is the continued theme as the Cooleys receive personal training–three months in total—courtesy of Mass Appeal Pro Training by Antoine, a yoga class at Exhale, with time to relax before Wade Ford’s “Grown and Saxy” concert at the historic Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, featuring Marion Meadows, Kim Waters and Paul Taylor, with special guest music host, Atlanta’s Joey Sommerville, who will give the couple the VIP treatment all the way! “This is just a beginning of the monthly series that will celebrate people across the nation who from the heart live to serve with love and honor,” says Adams. “They’re not rich or famous, just good people giving their absolute best in all they do without any expectation of something special in return. These are the true celebrities.” As a travel and lifestyle writer, I am privy to some of the best experiences the world has to offer. So I thought what a marvelous way to honor great people by giving audiences the opportunity to see a destination through my eyes and theirs, which will undoubtedly enhance the great stories shared at Traveling In My World and other publications and social media outlets where I contribute.”

Since 2000, Adams has contributed travel and auto content to various outlets, including the Travel Channel, the Weather Channel, Caribbean News Bureau, the magazines Wild Blue Yonder, Business Travel Executive, Business Traveler, Black Enterprise, Upscale, Harlem World Magazine, Where, 002 Houston, Hombre, as well as Equally Wed, AOL Black Voices, The Atlanta Journal Constitution and a host of other mainstream and niche market newspapers, magazines and websites. Beginning in August 2012, “The Celebrity Series” will run monthly on Traveling In My World (www.travelinginmyworld.com), with video at Youtube and various social media, print and broadcast media outlets across the country.
