CLOSED: As Medicine Meets Art, The Art Of The Brain Show Gets Cerebral In East Harlem (Update)

March 4, 2020

Updated (3/16/2020): We’ve just gotten word from the event organizers that out of an abundance of caution, the Alexis Grady Gallery is closing it’s doors for now, so the Art of the Brain is now canceled.

Updated: To limit the congregation of large groups of people, the opening reception for the Art of the Brain has been canceled but the exhibit will still be taking place from March 16 – April 9, 2020.

“Art of the Brain” is an exhibition of photographs, medical illustrations and sculptures that celebrates the beauty of the brain, as seen through the eyes of some of the worlds’ leading researchers.

With the aid of the latest technological advances, as symbolized by these images, scientists are better able to understand how the brain works and to accelerate the development of new treatments for many brain disorders including Alzheimer’s disease, autism, drug addiction, schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease, among many others.

The exhibition, which is open to the public, was created by Mount Sinai’s Friedman Brain Institute as part of Brain Awareness Week, a global campaign created to promote public awareness of brain research.

* The opening reception, supported by Neuriva, will highlight
hors d’oeuvres and beverages that are comprised of ingredients that are associated with brain health.
