After Months Of The COVID Crisis Closure NYC Gyms Reopen From Harlem To Hollis

Gyms are set to start reopening Wednesday for the first time since March when coronavirus closures swept over the city reports Patch.

The reopening comes with strings attached — applications, health inspections, a 33 percent capacity limit and mandatory mask-wearing.

But even with restrictions the reopening likely will be welcome for gym-goers and owners, especially after doubts were raised they would go forward after Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement they could reopen.

Mayor Bill de Blasio worried the city’s health inspectors would be too busy making sure schools could reopen. Health officials appeared to solve the problem by conducting virtual inspections.
